Sorry (Just a little? Not really? Very?)

'Sorry seems to be the hardest word.....'   according to Elton John
Although it's not a favourite word, it's one of my favourite songs by Elton!
It certainly seems to be difficult to know how sincere the person is who is saying 'sorry'!
One of our group thought that it was rarely used with sincerity.
