Education

Information about the work of Education Scotland and East Lothian.
Children
The Government gives you the possibility of 15 hours per week free nursery for children 3 to 5 years old, which is not compulsory. Private nurseries are normally very expensive.
Compulsory education in Scotland is from 5 years old. There are different mums and toddlers playgroups for children under 5 years old, usually situated in local church halls. It is the perfect place for you to meet other mums and for your children to play and have fun.
A Childminder is a licensed person who can look after your child in her/his own house during the day.
